Michael MD's Report
Clan Analogue is proud to release a slice of Australian electronic music history in Re Cognition: The Clan Analogue Legacy CollectionRe Cognition is a collectible three-disc set, containing a selection of the most seminal acts of the era, all of whom started their careers as part of the Clan Analogue collective.
Disc A is a collection of the greatest hits from a 15-year era of Australian techno and electronica explorations, encapsulating 24 hours in the life of an electronic music fan. Beginning during the day, whiling away hours in the office listening to radio hits by Disco Stu, Bleepin' J Squawkins, Artificial and General Electrik, we move to glitchy home listening, relaxing with Pretty Boy Crossover, Two4K and Ubin after a hard day. Then it's off to clubland to enjoy the sounds of Deepchild, B(if)tek and the Telemetry Orchestra before moving on to a warehouse party. The chill-out room warms up with Dark Network and Atone before its time to hit the dancefloor for some techno beats from Infusion, Continuum and Itch-E & Scratch-E. Finally, the comedown with 5000 Fingers of Dr T, back home in the early hours.
Disc B is an all-new selection of remixes produced from the new generation of Clan Analogue's artists, all of whom remixed their favourite tracks from the collective's back catalogue. Koshowko takes on B(if)tek, Winduptoys resurrect Continuum while Lunar Module lifts Nerve Agent into orbit. Hear the first vibrations of Clan Analogue's next era
The set includes a companion DVD. As well as classic filmclips by Deepchild, Telemetry Orchestra, Artificial and others, the disc includes the new documentary Clan Analogue: Plug In & Switch On and the influential 1995 VHS release Clan Analogue Live at the Goethe Institut.
A digital-download-only album Cognition X: The Clan Analogue Rarities Collection is available for free to anyone buying Re Cognition triple-disc set. Go to www.clananalogue.org for details.

I must remember one saturday to go and check this place out!
nice night!
These parties always create a friendly vibe.
The music ranged from chill-dubcore to dubstep to techno.. and was pretty good quality all night.
If you haven't been to a Swarm and like good electronic music I recommend you check it out next time!
coming very soon to spraci.com...
A new interface for spraci users to manage their content ... to make things easier.
thanks to the Sly Fox party on Sat and Dub Club afterparty (Town & Country last night) and the warehouse party afterwoods (last night) for making the long weekend actually fun!
yes - SPRACI has been online for 15 years..
If anyone has a venue I'd love to do a party...
..much more fun than the Cambridge the night before which had no vibe and certain very unfriendly bar staff (certain people should NOT be working in bars!) ... Saturday's sessions and evening fun at the Gatsby Ball more than made up for it though!
Gatsby's had a much more mixed crowd too ... probably part of the reason the vibe was so much better there!
As always at ThisIsNotArt there were interesting sessions, zany performances, and a diverse and friendly mix of people with different and complementary interests .. its more than just another party.
... and as bonus I got hold a piece of piezo plastic that might be put to use for something interesting!
...think of strange electroacoustic things :-)
Now that I'm back in Sydney I'll want to check out some of the Australian Web Week events and of course on Thursday - EXCISION! (if you like dark, envigourating electronic sounds check this guy out!)
Regarding those other festivals I would have also loved to go to (Dragon Dreaming, Bellingen, etc) ... how about we ban long weekends and let people choose their days of so that not everyone organises their festivals on the same weekend!!!
and oh yes .. the daylight saving confusion... when are they going to wake up and ether abolish this mid 20th century white picket fence nonsense or at least standardise the changeover dates worldwide and stick to it?
... as if timezones were not enough of a mess as it is!
